Sales figures , digital sales don't count

#1jaymart_2kPosted 9/15/2013 9:22:17 AM(edited)
With all 3 pushing towards buying digital of course game sales are down. More people are buying digital but one problem.

The sales are still being counted toward physical only, not digital sales. When are those for digital sales gonna be counted?

It's 2013 for crying out loud.

Just thinking, why is it that digital music counts towards sales but not full retail games?

You can be sure the publishers are counting digital sales. Who else needs to count them? I'm not sure what you're asking.

If the numbers are good enough, you'll definitely hear about it. Publishers love to tell customers that the game they just bought is selling very well.

Ya like 1 year down the dam road, hey we sold X amount of Minecraft copies said Microsoft. Guess what, they never said how much was physical v.s digital either.

There needs to be a system in place where the NPD work together with the big 3 & count there digital sales with the physical sales.

Currently it's not like that.

Why? The publishers know their sales numbers. And NPD is US-only. Besides this isn't like the Billboard top 100 where people need the radio and MTV to tell them what songs to listen to. Or is it?
