I was planing on getting a steam box when ever it came out but ever sense the backlash of Microsoft drm thing and gamers show they REALLY do not want it and refuse to have it will the steam box suffer cause of this sense its heavy drm based and not do well i just want to make sure the things i like have a future and not be a waste of money.

Gamers don't understand that Steam is a form of DRM.

Have you completely ignored everything Valve has tried to do?

For !@#$% sake it's going to be on Linux. Their whole mode is to make it so "customers" can upload and create there own mods and game changes to all games.

They want it to be as open as possible.

Stop equating draconian DRM to extremely convenient steam access.

I think 1 thing that will help the STEAM box is that most people will go into it already owning many games & have access to them from day 1. Th new adapters are the ones that might not understand but after a while they will see. Then they will see XBOX drm was not that bad after all. I own around 200 steam games & not one single physical copy & i am ok with it.

Currently steam games can be played offline indefinitely, as long as that carries over to the SB no one will care.

But if you already have steam on your PC why would you get a steam box and if players start so see oh its not that bad wouldn't that be a big face palm to Microsoft and like steam giving them the middle finger and from what i have seen that's what steam wants is new people to steam but liek i said the gamer shunning it so badly with stuff like "i want to own my game its MINE i want it in my hands i payed for it!" it just worry me because i think that's what most of the new people will think and not buy it.

Microsoft's insulting mockery of Steam via their initial DRM policies will not be repeated by Valve.

Because Valve isn't as stupid as Microsoft has proven to be.

I think the steambox will be in trouble because their biggest audience already has a PC to play games on.
Unless they've got something really special planned, I don't see it going well.

I think any Steam user knows there is a huge difference between what the Steambox offers and what Microsoft was originally planning for the Xbone. They are two worlds apart.
