Xbox One is a "more than 10-year journey" Microsoft says

I hope it doesn't have a 10yr life span. I personally think the consoles should relatively keep up with PC so one doesn't hold it back too much like the PS3/360 has done. Personally I think 6-7yr is plenty. Oh well if the Steambox takes off I will happily use that as my powerhouse depending on the specs on how it can help the developers so they don't have to work with out dated tech like the X1/PS4 will definitely be in 10yrs.

I have to agree, tc. Six to seven years is long enough.

Unless all games move to a streamed model I don't see either console lasting 10 years or more.

EDIT: They say "support for 10 years", I hadn't read the article closely. We may see new hardware in 7 years but they could continue to support the One for years afterwards. I mean come this November the 360 will have been out for 8 years and They'll probably support it for at least another 2-3

Dang, don't know how I missed that lol. Guess that's what I get for reading this after I ran....so tired:(

So it will probably be like the 360 where the next X2 will be out in say 7yrs while this will get support for an extra 3.

Just as with this generation and previous generations a console's lifespan doesn't prohibit launching a new console. It just means they won't immediately stop supporting the previous console.

The 360 is technically a 10 year journey

I really don't care honestly as long as there are good games it can last for 50 years for all I care. Its simple as that.

The X1 should have an infinite lifespan, because of THE INFINITE POWER OF THE CLOUD!
