How would Xbox One be holding PS4 back and vice versa?

I've seen it a few times that PS4 is holding XB1 back and others saying XB1 is holding PS4 back. So what is it the PS4 is not doing and what is the XB1 not doing?

Dont worry about it, stop reading about it and just enjoy your chosen console. Its all BullSh*t!

Because in every previous generation there has not been any difference in the way multiplats look. That's why 360 games look exactly the same as Wii games, Xbox games looked he same as Gamecube and PS2 games, N64 games looked the same as PS1 games etc...

PS4: Holds XBone back by having a bigger audience, more developers and more games.
Xbone: Holds PS4 back by forcing developers to castrate the graphics on PS4 versions of multiplatform games, in order to keep Microsoft happy.

Politics, probably. We're hearing some stuff already about publishers undermining the PS4 version to get graphical parity between the two versions purposely. I hope it doesn't happen, and especially not for that reason. I was happier than almost anyone when we first heard about that 53mhz upgrade to the XboxOne's GPU, since that meant that the floor of the lowest common denominator got a bit higher, but if they're just going to be leveled-off anyway that's kind of upsetting.

There's already talk that publishers will purposely degrade PS4 editions of multiplats to match the weaker abilities of XBone versions.

If MS had put money strictly into the console, this wouldn't be happening. Instead they lop off performance in order to include a spy camera, and now PS4 owners will suffer due to it.

Just like MS ruined last gen games with their paltry little DVD discs making publishers axe content.

Games will end up looking similar, with PS4 on top

Okay, so XB1's underpoweredness will cause developers to make bad PS4 games to make them even with XB1.

So what is PS4 doing (or not doing) that is holding XB1 back?

Nothing.
In fact it's functions like video recording spurred MS to increase the features on XBone to match.

If anything PS4 is pulling XBone along.

If PS4 exclusives don't look any better than Xbox's, why multiplats would? This "political business" talk doesn't fit.

I'm not buying that, but if is what make you happy go ahead.
