The ryse downgrade is actually an upgrade.

You keep deluding yourself like that.

I never said I didn't like it, you're the one claiming one is better than the other and actually expressing dislike for one of them.

I'm simply pointing out that if you're actually thinking something looking less detailed and more blurry is better, you need to see an eye doctor.

Implying high level of sharpness is better.

My eyes are perfectly fine.
To me, the edges of everything makes the image as a whole look kind of gross.

More detailed? yes.
Better? Opinions vary.

In my opinion I'd rather have the blur effect going on to hide the harsh edges of the older model.

I think the characters look better in the old build, but overall the new build looks better. That's how I see it anyways.

Man, the armor lost so much detail tho. It's like way noticeable, and you see this as an improvement? What would be impressive is the first character model moving at 60fps, now that's somethin to see. I guess some extra background elements is nice tho.

The loss of REAL detail is trivial.

Are you going to lose it because you can't see the extra specks of detail on his shoulder?

I don't understand why people are saying that the "old" build is automatically worse than the "new" build. I mean, the new build looks like it has a greater draw distance as well as a large number of soldiers in the background. Also, the light seems to have been shifted towards the viewer to change the shadows on the two soldiers, unless they rewrote their shaders. The old build has some clipping issues and doesn't look as smooth as well.

However, that doesn't explain the circumstances surrounding them. Was the old build before the addition of NPCs to the background of this scene? Is the draw distance greater now that they've had more time to work on it? Is everything smoother because of a change in the engine, or simply because it is more polished now?

I agree that the new build is a downgrade in terms of polygons and whatnot, but I'm not sure the old one's criticisms are justified when looking at the big picture

Confirmed TC needs glasses in every day life, as they obviously have some sort of vision problem where less sharp and detailed looks better.

You see everything in life and it's a bit blurry looking most likely. Get to an eye doctor. That's a vision problem.

You've all heard the saying, Less is more.

After a good level of study of this image:
http://cdn.dualshockers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/RyseComparison2.jpg

I've come to the conclusion that the *new* images appeal to me more than the old.

The lion emblem on the knight the the right looks more natural and smooth giving the illusion of more detail.
The *old* build looks fake, and over the top, as if the developer tried too hard to make it look good, yet failed.

Old = Too sharp, takes away from everything as a whole.
New = Smooth, gives a more natural look.

So from one picture we can determine everything that's changed now?

Logic would dictate that downgrading graphics won't make the game look better, but it could offer some other advantage like increased draw distance.
But whether that is actually the case, is an unknown at this point.

I'd say wait for actual footage from the game running on an xbox before making any kind of conclusion.
