Other than the trend on hating Ryse, is it actually a good game?

The gameplay looks really boring.
The multiplayer looks bad as well.
Just my opinion.
Though, Crytek has a history.

It looks more like a cinematic game than an action one.

Haven't played it yet, but from what i've seen it does seem very very very generic as far as action mash em ups go.

Graphically it looks good but boring, if that makes sense? God of Wars setting is more appealing to me while Ryse just seems rather bland.

Combat seems average at best, story who knows how it'll hold up or if it'll give people incentive enough to get through the game.

I'll be playing it this friday at Sydneys EB Games Expo so will give it a proper chance, but i can't see my mind swaying as its the most unlikely launch title id buy at this point.

I'm thinking of pre-ordering it as it's the only launch game I have interest in and I want a launch game to buy.

I'm with you TC. It is the only game that interests me out of either console. But I am taking a wait and see approach.

When people hate something, it's usually for a reason.

Graphically the game looks cool, it's just the gameplay doesn't look at all interesting and I'm not crazy about historical action games. God of War was good because it mixed in mythology. This game looks more historically accurate with combat.

Crytek is a good developer and I can see this game being good (maybe an 8-8.5 for reviews). I'd be willing to give it a chance if I tried a demo or if it gets better reviews (say a 9+).
