Killzone devs believed Ryse was running on high-end PCs. They were proved wrong.

I find it laughable that anyone from Guerrilla would have the balls to call another into question. Given the hullaballo during their E3 '05 showing of Killzone 2.....which was later found out to be straight up CGI that they tried to pass off as actual gameplay.

Heh. That's Lococycle. Not Ryse. Ryse isn't even mentioned anywhere in that article. I'd be very surprised if Crytek is lying about this.

I blame Jack Tretton for that lie. Not GG.

It doesn't mention any games in that article. Just a report of one system crashing to a windows desktop, and also a picture of someone repairing a crashed gaming PC on an Xbox1 demo stand. You think it only counts as proof if one PC from every X1 demo stand would have crashed and they could have gotten a photo of each and every one?

And the fact that Ryse has been confirmed to be scaled down graphically from what was seen at E3 in no way supports the notion that it was running on high-end PCs at E3?

I think you're playing fast and loose with the words "fact" and "confirmation":

And GG more or less hit that mark with the real game in any case.

Anyways......

I found this pretty hilarious from the article.

"However, according to Microsoft, a representative for the company claimed that the Nvidia GTX 780 machines were development kits. Of course, I have a hard time believing that a system running an AMD APU uses development kits that contain Intel CPU-powered machines with a high-end Nvidia GTX. That just makes no sense to me whatsoever and isn't usually how things are done."

In regards to the GPU.... I don't believe for a second that a GTX based PC is a dev kit for an AMD based console. I agree with the author on this.

As far as Guerilla Games allegedly coming over for a look. I'll wait for the article in which they admit it themselves.

You thought posting the TCs article again would get you a point or something? There's nothing in there that can be counted as proof. It's just the dev for the game saying he's confident it will look great when it's released, which means nothing. You think they'd drop the character model quality down from 150k to 85k, and then get back to 150k+ through optimising?

I think they'd be quicker to deny it publicly than confirm it publicly. If we don't see a denial in the next few days then I'll take it as truth.

I think you're taking this too seriously if you think I'm trying to score points. I'm just reiterating that Crytek knows more about maximizing and optimizing video game graphics than anyone here. And if they think cutting the main character's polys will give them an overall graphics advantage and improvement over what we saw at E3 then they are probably right. That's not my point. That's theirs. More power to 'em. Hopefully the gameplay is also improved.
