Hideo Kojima thinks the cloud is important to gaming.

He also says every MGS game will be his last, so this is just another hogwash from his mouth.

Despite his developing talent Kojima is a known troll, and even if he's being sincere here his opinion doesn't diminish the words of almost every other unbiased developer who's commented on the subject claiming cloud won't be too significant.

How is he a 'known troll'? Also who are these legions of devs claiming cloud won't be too significant?

So far I've seen the TitanFall devs personally praise cloud stuff in a blog.
Forza devs talk about how their using it in an interview.
And now Kojima talk specifically on how he thinks it's important in an interview.

O yeah and there is this:

Apparently sony thought gaikai cloud service was worth 380 million dollars.

The cloud has been important to gaming for nearly two decades now.

It sounds like he's talking more about syncing different devices up via cloud and making them interaction points into a game more so than cloud computing.

Or is it just me that got that vibe?

Well the 'cloud' is kind of a catch all term. That being said, what he was talking about is similar to how I have a finance app on my PC and a corresponding app on my phone. So if at work I adjust say a stock it's tracking in a portfolio I created, when I get home that will show on my PC version as well. That sort of stuff is powered by the google cloud.

At least that's what I think he was getting at.
