Because XB1 is the future, and 1080p is the present.

PC + Nintendo
Winning combination in the late 80s, winning combination in the 90s, winning combination today.

Because it can't output games at 4k, even MicroSoft has said that. It can output videos/movies/etc at 4k, but games are a completely different beast.

Wrong. Sony has said that about the PS4, but MS has said that the XB1 will support 4k games.

The thing is that just because the Xbox one has some games running below 1080p, it doesn't mean that others games couldn't run at 4k. Most shooters on Xbox 360 run at resolutions below 720p, but it has other games that run at 1080p.

There is no reason to assume that it would be impossible to create a 2-D sides roller that could run at 4k on the xbone one.

It never hurts to have something extra, I guess, even if you probably won't use it.

You cannot compare first generation X1 games to future games. As devs figure out the console, game performance will improve.

Exactly.
If we see any games in 4K they will most likely be indie or Live Arcade titles. Games which aren't graphically intensive leaving the system a lot of extra power to render a higher resolution.

For example it wouldn't surprise me if they released a Lumines game in 4K. Just don't expect it to look any different unless your screen is 60+ inches or you're using a projector.

No big game will be 4k. It's as simple as that.

This. I'm sure we will see some 2d games, or some very un-intensive 3d games in 4k, but it takes really high end computers to run big games in 4k at 30fps.

this isnt really true anymore. this was true of past generations because of big changes in architecture from system to system. ps4 and xb1 are just PC's, and game developers learned how to take advantage of multiple cores last gen. the 360 and ps3 were the first multicore systems for console developers so they had a bit of a learning curve to overcome.

this generation we will see improvement, but it will be MUCH less than we saw on 360/ps3 for sure. in 2 years, PC's will be 4x more powerful than a PS4.
