Backwards compatibility through emulation?

They did it on the 360 for original xbox games. Can they do the same on xbox one for 360 games?

They can, but they don't want to!
They want you to buy the games again as download. Milking has never been so much for the companies.

Xbox360 should have been compatible with all Xbox games. I can't believe they didn't. Cheap asses. The emulation was stupid, you needed Internet and only a quarter of the Entire Xbox original games made would work anyway.

Quarter?
More like 51%.

360's emulation was horrible. I couldn't play a single game without constant crashing.

If the hardware is compatible enough, they COULD. But they wont.

They could no matter how different the hardware is... but they still won't.

thats the big one

Pretty much an impossibility given how difficult it would be to emulate the Xbox 360's CPU with the Xbox One's. Even if it could be done, it would almost certainly be far too slow to be worthwhile.

Nah, the impossibility stems for Microsoft's attitude towards backwards compatibility more than anything.

No, it's really an impossibility because of technical reasons. It would be like expecting the 3DS to be able to emulate the Wii: it flat out doesn't have the processing capability to make it work. All the intent in the world doesn't matter if the hardware isn't able to handle it.

They might've been able to accomplish backwards compatibility through other means, but certainly not emulation with the hardware they're using.

It's just a matter of time before you can download 360 games on the X1 through XBLA.

Don't be silly.

Wasn't the original xbox x86? or was it powerpc?

If it was x86 emulation should be as easy as writing wrapper functions.

Which is why we have so many Xbox emulators for PC.

People cared before Microsoft started to talk about the PC version of Halo.
