Microsoft might have abandoned its always-on plans for Xbox One, but it is still committed to making players' online experience better - and it's going to offer dedicated multiplayer servers to all multiplayer games.

On Twitter, Microsoft director of product planning Albert Penello answered a question from follower @PontifusRex, who asked "Can you confirm if the free Xbox compute resources includes dedicated servers for all Xbox One games?"

To the question, Penello answered, simply, "yes."

That's pretty clear, and a big win for Xbox One gamers.

Which just means Microsoft can choose to shut down a game's multiplayer.

Good, if they can continue to provide it. It's a little early to say "ALL" but if they can hold out on that then good for MS & us.

Can't wait for Halo 5 & Titanfall next year with the Dedicated servers I wonder just how much of an improvement we can expect from it? If we will see a difference or not?

This is good unlike PSN on ps4 with lag and host advantage in games.

Hold the phones, unless my eyes deceive me this is a Dev topic and there was no mention of the PS4 or anything negative said about the Xbox One...

What is your angle? *squints eyes vigilantly*

@JohnWall32
Agreed, although BF4 and COD get dedicated servers for both systems.

Actually the way it works is that it will ramp up servers as they are needed. So if a game is completely dead, there will be no servers on, however if an influx of players start playing again, the servers are spun back up, since they're virtual and in the cloud they can do this in theory.
