Consoles are FAR more powerful than people realize (AMD's Revolution)

Ever wonder why GTA 5 looks and functions as good as it does on 7 year old tech? Because the consoles use custom low-level API's! Mantle is PC's solution to this problem and a huge reason why EA/DICE are heavily supporting Mantle.


Not really seeing as the game struggles to perform at 30fps often.

Dev's are already hitting walls with the new console hardware. Plus the games are upscaled to 1080p in an age where 1080p is the f****** norm.

1080p isn't the norm for video games. Not at all. You can call it the expectation, but "norm" is flat out incorrect.

Lot of miss information in here. PS4 will support both DX and openGL. I believe X1 will support just DX. Both consoles APIs will have specific libraries designed to take advantage of their specific hardware. PS4 will also have a second 'low-level' api available to devs. These things are there to make certain processes work faster/smoother but no video game is going to be entirely developed without using DX or openGL. Just like devs in the past have used assembly to handle certain parts of a game but not the entire thing.

There are many cases where programming in a higher lvl language is just as efficient as a lower level language. The only real difference being that the lower level language makes the dev time take much longer. There is a reason no one programs in binary anymore :)

1080p is the norm. f*** it's been 6/7 years since 1080p has been the norm & to top it off 30 fps in 2013? REALLY?

A game that is 30 fps & not 1080p is unacceptable in 2013.

In what way can you possibly support that the norm for video games is 1080P? I am deeply curious to see what you are using to support the claim that it's been the norm for the past seven years, which is a flat out laughable claim.

Here's my support that it isn't: There are barely any video games that are natively 1080P. Console market is bigger than PC market, and PC market isn't even 100% 1080P.

Look at the gloves. Extreme details and textures on KZ, low quality textures on BF. The lighting on the guns are better on KZ. Look at the ground, the water drops and the tiles look great while BF has crappy grass and paper that is literally painted on the road

You guys can be in denial all you want but lol PC
