Sony fell to second in the game console assessment in part because key PlayStation 4 (PS4) differentiators like cloud gaming are still untested (and won’t be fully available at launch), but largely because Microsoft has shown more features on the broader entertainment front (e.g. hybrid premium/OTT services).

Nintendo secured the third position but a significant gap remains between it and market leaders.

It won because of all the TV crap and because they don't know anything about the Cloud system?

Xbox One and PlayStation 4
Because I can buy both.

Analysts have a better insight and perspective on the broader market than fanboys on message boards. Analysts weren't wrong when they said mobile gaming would vastly overtake traditional gaming portables despite the fact that most message board gamers were denying that, and even some still do.

Cloud gaming untested?

It's untested whether it will even be worthwhile in the long run.

The XBO's 'cloud' system hasn't been consumer tested either, so why would they vote the PS4 down for that?!?

Because MS's marketing is just that good, obviously.

Pathetic what people believe in these days.

Because Microsoft's Azure cloud business has shown its power from which an analyst can extrapolate its console business impact while Sony has nothing.

Azure is a multi-billion dollar and growing annual business. Gaikai is just a service that edged Onlive in survival that Sony was able to pick-up on the cheap. There is no comparison between the company's cloud businesses.

The Xbox One is no longer just a gaming console. It now appeals to a wider audience. This is a good thing for everyone. It gets more companies looking at the Xbox One. Developers love this idea because it gets their product the chance to integrate into a different demographic. The One in the Xbox One really does encompass it's vision as an All-in-One entertainment system and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

We've seen how beautiful the launch titles are and it's a very safe bet that things will only get even more pretty. So that pretty much ends the argument that since the focus is no longer 100% gaming, that the games will fail and or look ugly.

It's a good time to be a console gamer. We have two (3 if you count Nintendos offerings) very capable consoles that will offer some pretty amazing things down the line. Whatever your entertainment preferences are, you'll find what you want this generation.

So let's all just calm down, sit back and have fun. For cereals. This bickering about 1080, ads, NSA Agent Dave watching you scratch yourself are all for naught. In the end, us gamers have more choice than ever before. So yeah, stuff.

No it hasn't, the article specifically mentioned "Cloud gaming", which it is entirely unproven what the "cloud" will bring to Xbox One gaming via what MS has marketed it as.
