John Carmack on the Kinect

Actually, from what MS has shown, it looks much more like touchscreen controls. You can drag, drop, pull, swipe and so on just like a tablet. Carmack clearly is out of his element here.

If it is as accurate as they say you could simulate a mouse press by 'closing' your hand.

John Carmack knows about specs. John Carmack knows almost nothing about motion controls or Kinect 2.0.

Its like saying because I listen to my Lawyer regarding legal issues so I should listen to his advice on how to raise children...

John Carmack builds game engines, he also build rockets. Fairly certain his level of expertise in the simplest things such as motion controls and Kinect is fairly knowledgeable. He knows controls, which is part of what he does for a living.

He knows controls on PC and consoles (sort of...) = he knows motion controls? He isn't even considered a good developer anymore. His only renown is from his older PC titles and his game engines.

The fact that he can't even tell Kinect emulates tablets just made his that much less credible. A zero button mouse? A tablet also does not use buttons to browse and is obviously where MS plagarized most of their ideas from.

To build engines, you must be familiar with controls and different types of interfaces.

Edit: You're a fanboy, the person posting the video could be the creator of Kinect and say something negative and you would make up crap to shoot him down. No point in continuing this conversation with a drone.

Yes, and he certainly has not done anything good with Kinect or even with console controls. What is your point? He has almost no experience in this field and can't even keep up with the new kids in town in what he use to be good at.

Carmack is CTO of Oculus. i'm pretty sure you have to know something about motion controls to occupy that position.
