Do you think polls would be more positive for Xbox One if one could surf the web

For free without having a gold subscription on their Xbox? It seems only a 3rd of Xbox 360 owners actually subscribe to gold so that cuts a lot of people out of voting as opposed to PS3 gamers who can surf the internet for free. Maybe that's why the polls are so biased.

Nope. I don't think anything would do it.

Nope, I think that E3's effect is going to linger for the entire lifespam of the Xbone, where half of it's casual fans stopped caring when they announced "DRM Box 180".

They're redeeming themselves, but they havent fired enough random execs to sell well yet.

Actually, the vast majority of gamers (including Playstation and Xbox fans) don't care about internet polls at all.

I'm not so sure. Some people seem to be using the polls to influence which console they'll buy next month. Some even made posts about it, saying that they might not buy X1 because of the unpopularity in the polls. I would THINK you're right, but it seems like you're not.

I'm a big fan of the Xbox 360 and I have an Xbox One preordered but all these polls showing that the community dislikes the Xbox makes me think that I should be a Nintendo Box because I don't know why but polls are like pretty important yknow

Well, I believe the majority of gamers are not like us here on GameFAQs. We are a very thinslice of the hardcore sector-- not only do we regularly visit a message board, but we participate in disucssions, vote in polls, look up news about all the latest games, etc... I'm sure in the grand scheme of all gamers who buy and enjoy console games, we are in the vast minority.

Most gamers don't go hang out on Reddit or GameFAQs and argue on boards. Most people will probably just surf around their favorite sites and get news tangentially, or see ads in different places. Or some people probably just know there's a PS4 and X1 coming out later this year and are eagerly anticipating their arrival without participating in the hatestorm of this board.

Look at the highest poll participation GameFAQs ever had for the character contests. Even with outside influence voting in the poll, I don't think it ever peaked over 300k votes. And only a fraction of that likely visits this board. Even those internet polls people participate in, you're usually looking at about 1 million people voting if you're lucky. In the grand scheme of 78+ 360s/PS3s sold, does it even really matter?

I'm not saying that certain people don't enjoy internet polls. Of course they do, and it's a good way to see reaction among the hardcore fans. But what I meant to say in my post is there is a sea of gamers out there who don't even give a passing glance at the whole internet-poll and message board gaming-culture.

this site is like high school

there's always a "flavor of the month"

something becomes popular with a select group and everyone else feels the need to follow the herd

then after a while it fades out and something else becomes popular then whatever was previously popular becomes generally disliked by the masses

The difference would be that we would have more topics about Microsoft spying on us when we use our One's to surf porn.
