Maybe because MS offers much more online products than just videogames? Just a thought.

In case you didn't know, XBL compute (cloud) will provide dedicated servers for free, so expect most games to use them.

No, it's the whole Azure cloud service, which handles everything cloud based that MS does. And it's 300,000 virtual servers. No where has stated how many physical servers there are, but it's probably much, much less.
