Xbox One will offer a form of backwards compatiblity with Xbox 360 titles

Technically no, the Xbox One cannot play Xbox 360 games. However you can use the Xbox One as a pass through for the Xbox 360. The steps listed below should help you upon release; Note: You WILL need to have an Xbox 360 as well

Step 1: Have a spare HDMI cable around, then proceed to plug it into the Xbox One's input HDMI port
Step 2: Use the HDMI cable which is then plugged into the Xbox One into your 360's HDMI port
Step 3: Hook up all of the cables to both consoles accordingly, as in power and HDMI OUTPUT for the Xbox One into your TV.
Step 4: Power both consoles on and proceed to use your Xbox One as a passthrough for your Xbox 360 console, switching seemlessly between the two with Xbox One's Kinect voice commands.

Yes it's true, both consoles offer no true backwards compatibility. However this is the closest you can possibly get using conventional methods. If you find this topic helpful, please request a sticky. If not, please feel free to debate. Thank you.

Can you play your 360 with the One's Kinect and controllers? Or do you have to switch those as well when you swap?

Very true, I guess you will have to make a well thought out decision upon release. Backwards compatibility or integration with TV programming.

You cannot use the One's controllers with the 360 titles. You're essentially using the One as a passthrough device. You CAN swap seamlessly between the two though, using the voice commands. Keep your 360's.

BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY MEANS YOU DON'T NEED THE ORIGINAL CONSOLE.

I said a form of backwards compatibility. I also clearly stated that neither can do so.
