Just learned that sony scrapped media server support for the ps4, my guess is making cuystomers use their online store to buy movies and music than use our own stuff, so nervous microsoft might do the same thing

They dropped the windows media extender so I'm not hopeful for DLNA support. Which is a shame from both camps. Hell a sub $100 bluray player has DLNA support.

MS has yet to confirm any of those at all.

They will probably do something like Sony (monthly fee), instead leverage the cloud for that integration.....aka they will probably use Xbox Music and require Xbox Music Pass to access their personal music cloud....$10 a month.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/features/2012/oct12/10-14xboxmusic.aspx

That will allow you to store your songs in the cloud and listen on all devices. Or, use Sony's console and service and stream millions of songs at a lower price and good quality.

They are both trying to lock you into their service, with Sony basically letting you rent millions of songs and not keep any if you drop the sub....and MS with storing your songs in the cloud, and losing that integration between devices and storage if you cancel that subscription.

Have you considered a surround sound receiver with DLNA support? That is what I use, a Denon. It's nice to control it with my smartphone too.

Your surround sound receiver will stream video to your TV?
