Microsoft is not a hardware company. They make the vast majority of their profits from selling licenses to Windows, Office, and their other proprietary software.

Why are they pushing multimedia more aggressively than games on the Xbone? Why did they try to foist all the DRM onto their sheep? Because they have no interest in game consoles and no interest in perpetuating the "myth" of game ownership. Like their main core business, they want to sell licenses for content on the Bone instead of making actual games and letting the sheep feel like they pay to own something.

Did you seriously skip all the responses in this thread? Did you not go to the link I provided? I am just going to guess you didnt. Pick your poison:

You don't know how much of that money is going toward actual game development. I would say it's more toward marketing spend, buying exclusive licenses for multimedia content, and DLC. If they spend money on exclusives like Titanfall, it's only a Trojan Horse to get sheep to buy Gold subscriptions and eventually other annual licenses to pay other games or access media content.

They are no longer in the business of developing indie games or developing new IP because again, they are not interested in gaming.

.... so basically all you have is your best guess with nothing to back it up? No links, no sources, nothing but a random thought that popped into your head. And when i provide links showing you that they have invested $1 billion into games, you still think you are right that they dont care about games.

My mind is truly blown, I cant even begin to fathom how your brain can work that way.

Loads of games beg to differ.

Microsoft internal documents beg to differ. From the first Xbox their interest was to build infrastructure and a brand that could get into advertising/TV revenue. Gaming was just the initial angle.

Gaming is small potatoes for Microsoft. Their ambitions were always way above that and they went for broke initially with XBONE then got shot way the f*** down fast in an epic train wreck that is still playing out.

i was here when the forums started as well so do not think that gives you any leverage for your stupid comments.

now, on to your moronic comment. MS never tried to hide it. do you forget all the cool features the first xbox had that we never saw on a console and it actually updated the OS with features over time? we thought the DC was cool (still my fav console) as it could do other things but in came the xbox and wow...

sony saw this was the future. they could not copy ms with the ps2, they had to wait to the ps3 to do it. not to mention they failed hard at copying ms. ps3 tried at launch to beat ms to the punch. all this talk about xbox being a pc and yet the ps3 comes along that can run a damn linux distro and not one word was spoken again about the xbox being a pc.

i'm just shocked someone who has been here since the start of the forums like me can actually know so little.
