sony already tried microsoft's xbox one strategy with the ps3

microsoft's whole entertainment platform is the same as when sony included a bluray player in the ps3. only sony knew better than to try and pass off the ps3 as a blu-ray player than also played games.

Except the Kinect doesn't actually do something to better the core game, blu ray does. It gives more space for more of a game.

How do you know it has not worked, we know PS3 has sold upwards of 70million units, how many were bought as they are cheap Blu-ray/Netflix box, yet to see a PS3 title sell 30million units in first week (50% of user base if ALL gamers).

It's a very similar situation. The question is will both situations end up the same. The ps3 bluray player was a detriment at first because of price but nowadays I think it is the best move they made. Will the kinect be able to prove itself worthy? Time will tell.

Newsflash kiddos but kinect already proved itself. It has a very high attach ratio and its software sales. Kinect sports sold more than the last of us and dance central outsold infamous. If kinect was a failure then so were those games.

What MS is doing is not copying Sony but evolving what the 360 innovated. The 360 added netflix and other apps long before the ps3 could even use netflix run off a disc. If anything the ps4 is copying the 360 with features like facebook and party chat which were also on the 360.

Now what will seperate the xbox one from the ps3 is that its not as expensive, with inflation considered the xbox one barely costs more than the 360 did at launch and it comes with Kinect 2. Also it has one of the best launch line ups ever while the ps4 has nothing.

PS3 has sold 80 million units so far.

what a dumb post

GTA 5 sold 29 million in six weeks in both consoles

why would anyone expect a Sony exclusive to break such an unreachable record?

Launch lineup is debatable but the fact remains, the Kinect 2 is useless during launch. There are no games that make getting the Kinect 2 worth it.

I was responding to the TC, and it's is far from dumb, IF what the TC states is that only gamers bought said console and as someone else stated 80 million sold, then why would it be daft to presume the best made game for that system to sell to 50% of it's user base being 40million sold.

UNLESS you know, not eveyone who bought the console were gamers and bought it for other reasons.

No it doesn't. it simply allowed developers to be sloppy with their coding. Developers didn't need to compress the textures files as much (if at all ) for blu-ray. Current gen machines don't offer the kind of read bandwidth when it comes to these bigger data files with blu ray either. There was no benefit to it. It was waste of space. It would have allowed developers to make bigger games, but games in general they didn't really get bigger. Games still adhered to to the roughly same length for their respective genres. Otherwise we would have been seeing games like Destiny this gen, but we didn't.
