Wait, are companies really paying for advertisements on the dashboard before the console is even released?

Read the articles... There are NO ads on the main dashboard. You will only get ads when you go to the Games, Music, Video, or Apps store. The only thing that could even be construed as ads on the dashboard are the three tiles on the Home tab that show new content that has just released, or that you may be interested in based on games you've played, movies you've watched, etc. There are no ads for actual products like SlimJim, etc on the XB1 dashboard like there was 360.

People act like the dashboard and operating system are no big deal, but it is now that you can use the twitch/ snap feature to switch what you are doing instantly. X1 is going to destroy ps4 when it comes to this. Ps4 will probably have to download an update everytime you switch applications.

Has sony even announced any improvements for psn besides the forced psn?

This is why I'm never going to get a ps4

Dashboard has always been a huge deal to me. PS3's was awful, while Xbox 360's was much much better. That is why most of the time, I bought multiplats on my 360, and exclusives for PS3. PS4 dashboard will be much improved over PS3 no doubt, but I still think Microsoft will once again have a major advantage here.

And we can now see in real time how fast it is.

Lots of people claiming it would be much slower, good to see how fast it actually is.

This. PS3 was just ugly and annoying to navigate.

Pros: The pills were there.
Cons: So was the tank.

I still have nightmares about sending players messages or trying to look at their trophies/games played only to get greeted by a "Trophy Sync in progress" load screen, and then when that was finally done, it still took FOREVER for the games to all load up, and then they would disappear and have to be reloaded if you scrolled too far down. PS3 dashboard was garbage.
