The thing is that people see the disparity in resolution and/or framerate and assume that the one that has the higher resolution and/or framerate will be the better looking version, or that it means that the system running at a higher resolution and/or framerate is the more powerful system when that may not be the case. We do not know the differences between the two games, and we will not until people actually get their hands on them.

It could be that Sony told activision that the game had to be 1080p/60 and MS told them to make the game look as good as they can regardless of resolution, so they downgraded textures/lighting and character models on the PS4 version in order to get to 1080p, while on the xbox one they kept all those things as high as possible while keeping the resolution at 720p.

We do not know any of these things, nor will we, unless IW/Activision comes out with the exact reasons for the disparity in the resolutions between the two consoles.

Why do people complain about s*** that doesn't matter?

Because it does matter. If I currently only own a Xbox 360 and Im going to take $500 of my cash to purchase an upgrade well it darn well better be an upgrade. It matters because when you see articles like the one below you began to ask yourself what exactly are you getting for $500??

Kinect and multi media is what you are getting.

As I have said before, take away the Kinect and the only think the X1 has is the HDMI pass through and slightly better specs than the 360. Hell, without the Kinect the box probably wouldn't be selling for any more than 350 bucks.

They have already came out with the reasons for the disparity and apparently it's just that, a flat out power difference in the memory.

OK, either you didn't read a word of that article, or you didn't understand a word of it, because that is not what he said at all. He actually said that he fully expected the next COD to run at 1080p/60 on xbox one, and that the reason why this one had problems is that the system resources weren't allocated in the way they expected them to be, and they didn't have time to optimize the code before release, but with the next game, built from the ground up for the xbox one's final hardware and software wouldn't have the same problems.

You do realize multi-plats are virtually identical also. You can't tell the difference.

This resolution nonsense is one of the most idiotic arguments out there, considering that even the almighty PC version suffered from frame rate drops, poor optimization, and arbitrary hardware limitations. The 360 version runs smooth while the PS4 version suffers from frame rate drops, and even previous COD games on PS3 sold despite knowingly running at a lower resolution. But in the end this is more of a problem of Infinity Ward/Activision than MS/Sony.

The issue for people who are indifferent to brand name is why does the system that costs $500 display multiplats in 720p when the system that costs $400 displays multiplats in 1080p? If you can view this comparison with no fanboy goggles on it is a pretty legit concern.

A launch game is a poor usage for comparison, a better comparison would be Killzone 4 and Halo 5 when it comes out. I remember Perfect Dark 0 looking like a last gen game, same deal with Tekken Tag on PS2. Furthermore, resolution isn't the only factor, frame rate also counts, and from what I've heard, the PS4 version has FPS drops.
