Can someone give me details of the PROs and CONs between each console as I'm really unsure of which I want to purchase now?

Just wait 2-3 days then all embargos are lifted on both machines, we have not even seen a real time demo of PS4 UI yet and features.

I think in the end it wll be...

1 console for prettier effects, giving you bragging rights in the playground.

1 console for everything else, including Kinect.

PS4 Pros: $100 cheaper
PS4 cons: fewer games, fewer features like Kinect, TV accessibility, PSN now charges for online

Xbox One Pros: More games, more features, XBL
Xbox One cons: $100 more

In the end decide based off what games you want and what your friends get if you want to play with them.

Sony wins when it comes to:
100 dollars cheaper
PSN giving free games with their service and being cheaper
Noticeably superior hardware
Free to play games not needing a subscription for online
Free to play games in general
More games in general coming out over the course of the next year
More exclusives announced
Apps and general features not being put behind a paywall

Microsoft wins when it comes to:
..... This generation I can't think of any. Maybe having a huge amount of dedicated servers for games, but Sony also has dedicated servers and had them last gen so that's just MS catching up, hard to call that an advantage.

All of microsofts advantages are subjective such as:
Game choice ("LAUNCH EXCLUSIVES ARE EVERYTHING!!!!" Is something xbox fans believe lol
Controller (preference)
Interface (preference)
Faster online (completely unprovable, and last gen Microsoft games were P2P so it's also slightly dishonest)

Xbox does not have more games, unless you are talking strictly about launch.

Ps4:
+moar power for cheaper
+better for multiplat games
+get more free content from ps+

-Lack of interesting launch titles
-psn worse than live and you have to pay for psn
-ps eye worse than kinect

Xbox one
+Xbox live, dedicated servers and cloud
+better launch lineup
+does more than just games

-costs more than ps4 with much less power/some games at 720p
-Probably less free content/games than ps+
-Multiplat games will likely look/run worse

Xbox One will provide you with the gold standard for online with XBL which we've all come to know and love over the past few years. Also the better, wider variety library of games is found on MS. It does cost you more but you usually have to pay for quality TC I'm sure you know that. Controller preference is up to you but most people will love the Xbox controller over the new PS4 pad with touchpad and facebook buttons and blue LED light which has no purpose since sony hasn't shown many move features.

If you want PS4 pros you might try posting on that board, I'm not too sure I can accurately tell you here, I know it's $100 less but that's about it. Launch exclusives it has another Killzone game and something else. Other than being a bare bones console that's about it, PSN 2.0 costs $50 now so you can pay while they lock you out during maintenance lol. Good ol' psn

PS4
+ Cheaper
+ Slightly faster specs (yay!)
- Cheap controller that breaks easily
- Lesser online service
- Ugly as sin
- Crap game library

XBox One
+ Better game library (unless you're a weeaboo)
+ Better gamepad
+ Cloud computing for epic gaming experiences
+ Better UI
+ More features
- More expensive (you get what you pay for)
- Slightly slower specs (who cares)
