do people really care about playing games before fully installed?

I know its a feature on both systems, but come on, who really cares? i'd rather just wait the extra 10 minutes and know that all the textures and stuff are fully loaded. this is based off experience with older PC games that let you play the games half-installed but with some assets missing or downgraded until installation was complete.

i mean, it's a new generation, wouldnt someone be more OCD about getting 'the full experience' rather than trying to squeeze in 10 more inconsequential minutes of gaming?

I think it's a cool little feature, but it doesn't bother me at all if I couldn't play the game while I was installing it.

Ps4? More like Ps3.5, just a more powerful console with no innovation.

Well when you work full time, share the tv with a wife, and have a infant son who only sleeps/is calm for so long.... Yes.... Every extra minute spent gaming counts. But assuming you are young, single, and childless.... 10-15 doesn't mean too much so I get it.

games on current gen are on average around 7-8 gigs and this takes about 10 minutes to install....no big whoop

a few of the next gen games are 40-50 gigs already and the blu-ray drive is slower than the dvd drive currently in the 360

you do the math

we're looking at an hour to an hour and a half, if not more, wait to fully install a game

I don't know about you guys but I don't really have that kinda time to wait around every time I wanna play a new game

If its a disk based game then ill wait

But for a digital download i will welcome being able to play without having to wait quite some time for possibly 40+gigs to download

As someone who games on the 360 and the PS3 - yeah... I care. When the mandatory installs started up on the PS3, I couldn't believe how much time was spent waiting for installs. If I have the choice of waiting, or not waiting - I'll choose not waiting.

This can't be true...
12x DVD is 132.96 Mbit/s while 6x Bluray is 216 Mbit/s...

Will still take a long time to install everything.

The Xbox One only had a 2x Blu Ray drive which is about 72 MB/sec.
