In a new video posted to the official Xbox YouTube channel, the developers behind some of the Xbox One launch games explain how they're exploiting Microsoft's cloud-based services for Xbox Live for multiplayer, game balance and more.

A few highlights include Killer Instinct's approach to balance, which draws upon character parameters stored in the cloud to ensure that the game is balanced for all players. Players will automatically see the game updated with new character parameters whenever developer Double Helix tweaks the game, as well as messages from the developers about which balance changes have been implemented.

Forza Motorsport 5's "Drivatar" system, which lets players race against the virtual AI of other players that are saved to the cloud even when those other players aren't actually online can be extended to other types of game, says Turn 10 creative director Dan Greenawalt, including first-person shooters. An example of that comes from Zoe Mode's cartoonish Powerstar Golf, which lets players compete against a friend's cloud data or download their caddy.

The developers of Ryse, Dead Rising 3 and Battlefield 4 also weigh on the subject in the video above.

Where in the world is this assumption coming from that you need an OC128 to utilize the cloud services? 1.5 people. 1.5MBPS.

I wish I saved the article, but it has been said that the cloud will MAINLY be used for things that wont require a super fast connection. You could have the cheapest broadband connection available, and it will still work.

TC. THANK YOU SO MUCH for that link. I'm gonna put it in my sig.
