why are people so sure the xbox one will have better apps?

My Netflix experience has been much better on ps3 and pc than xbox 360. Microsoft getting their butt in gear in this regard?

Then by all means use Netflix on those devices. Plus MS doesn't design the apps.

It's not just the app itself, it's the snap feature that's pretty cool.

The dashboard is set up to take advantage of apps. PS4 has somewhat moved away from it's boring file scrolling xmb from the PS3, but still not as optimized to take advantage of apps as the xbox.

Microsoft compromised the actual gaming aspect of the Xbox One for great snap/app/tv support.

The Xbox One better have the better app experience or MS completely failed this generation.

Check out the X1 dashboard demo on the Home tab of the 360 dashboard. It shows how the dashboard works, how to use multiple apps at the same time, etc. It looks really cool and actually has me excited for the Kinect 2.0 - which I was not excited for at all before watching the video. I have the 360 Kinect and my kid likes some of the games (Fruit Ninja, Kinect Party) but I have avoided using it for anything else. The Kinect 2.0 seems great and the new dashboard seems really nimble and fast.

It probably will; the app store is being designed around the existing W8/WP8 template, with a long term view of using a unified app store.

The infrastructure is already pretty much there, whereas Sony will be starting from scratch on their OS.

Not that apps are going to sway most people one way or the other when deciding which console to go for of course.
