So Kinect so far is a 100$ fail?

Missed the gamespot stream but watched the Destructoid video, holy......... is it just me or Microsoft is on a fast way to its suicide?

If you have a selling feature that makes you different from the competition, it better work great most of the time, not fail every 3 seconds.

It's a pretty big failure so far, yes. Not surprising based on the first Kinect and voice controls in general.

A big failure if you have s--- conditions. 360 Kinect works great for me. Xbox One will probably work even better.

And last I checked Kinect 2.0 is also a damn camera and that part of gesture based controls work 100% with no issues.

From what i've seen, performance varies wildly. I am wondering if the people having less success with voice commands took the time to calibrate their Kinects before yelling loudly at them.

Pros: The pills were there.
Cons: So was the tank.

Well even if we don't consider voice commands extremely gimmicky, the thing is failing a good number of times unless you speak with a robot-like accentless voice(who has no accent these days?).

Here's an example of how it works:

And another little tidbit from The Verge:

There are two distinct ways the Kinect fails, and the first feels inexcusable. Many of the voice commands are extremely rigid, to the point where you need to memorize a list of exact phrases to be able to use them reliably. If you want to go to an app, for instance, you need to start by saying "Xbox go to." But if you want to go to Bing, that structure doesn't work. The correct command is "Xbox Bing," because Microsoft expects you to unquestionably understand and accept that "Bing" should be a verb. If "Xbox on" turns on the console, why doesn't "Xbox off" turn it off? Because "Xbox turn off" is the proper command, and you’ll need to memorize it. If you’re a Redbox Instant subscriber, get used to calling it "Redbox Instant by Verizon," because the Kinect won’t accept anything less. You can't say "Xbox play Forza," you have to say "play Forza Motorsport 5." There are dozens more examples like these.

It's pretty bad overall. Also you can't select the language you want to use, people in Germany must speak in German, Americans in English and so forth. Obviously a problem when a major part of the US population is Hispanic and a lot of non-native English speakers prefer English anyway instead of their native tongue when using technology.
