Xbox Live stayed up, thats the difference

It seems like only real problem for XBL for the XBO launch, happened around 8 pm Thursday night. It was down for about about a half hour. MS fixed it and there didn't seem to be any problems since then. Sony was experiencing problems all day during launch day, with users having trouble connecting to the service. Huge difference in instability of the online network between both systems.

The other thing was that it wasn't just XBL that went down but their other services too... Hotmail, Outlook, Xbox.com, MSN and others.

All was ok in the end but the thought of their services dropping again for any longer periods in the future could cause big problems for the business users later on.

At the end of the day both companies will be fine. Just go with the exclusives/ controller you see yourself playing for the next 5-8 years. I jumped bc halo and gears havent been doing it for me lately, I loved playing ffxi on ps2 and cant wait for ffxiv, and 90% of the crew from my work is on ps3/ps4. I'm sure I would have loved xb1, just think I may love ps4 more. So far so good

TC, since the Xbox sold a million to a large number of countries that are pretty spread out, there probably at most will be 200,000 downloading the update.

The PS4 hit a million sales in two countries of the same time zone, you could expect close to 800,000 trying to download the update at a similar time.

That's the difference.

Then why didn't Sony prepare for this? The service isn't as good.

Has there ever been a large scale launch of a product that DIDN'T have issues online?

As we go into a gen were games are going to get more and more of a connected experience, I just couldnt trust Sony to deliver that based on past experience. And sure enough, PSN dropped off for a couple days at launch. Live seemed to handle the launch very well. The update was super quick and I downloaded BF4 in a good time.

A biased statement from a reliable shill. PSN dropped off for two hours due to massive log-ins. Check the numbers.
