XB1 makes fizzing noise

My XB1 makes a weird fizzing noise. It's sounds like a just-opened can of soda.

It's not really loud but the frequency is distracting (more so than my two-year old Xbox Slim).

At first I thought it was the drive as I was downloading games, but it still does it. It seems like fan noise, and stops when I turn the console off.

Did a search online and found one YouTube video with the exact same sound.

Anyone else have a similar issue? Or is this normal?

It's the power supply and it's completely normal

Like in the YouTube link I posted, it's coming from the Xbox itself, not the power supply.

If it's coming from the xbox itself then, it isn't normal.

I have the power supply sound and at frist I though it was the xbox one.

Just double-checked. Coming from XB1. The power supply fan is whisper quiet.

Currently, I'm in a quiet room, sitting 19ft away from it, and it is very clearly audible. Looks like a return :(

mine does that exact same sound in the exact same area.

I havent had a single issue with my XBO since launch so I'm assuming that's normal.

But then I hear the XBO's being praised for how quiet they are so I dont know.

If anyone knows EXACTLY what this is, let us know.

Amazon UK is currently out of stock (refund only), so I contacted Microsoft. Apparently, the noise is a hardware defect.

They are sending out a replacement. Hopefully, the new one will be much quieter, as intended.

so you showed them the video and they said it was hardware defect? Damn. I'm having the same issue, but the system works regardless. What process did you go through to have them send you a new one? Did you send the defective one too?
