Curious as to what you guys think of Ryse

I see it is getting mostly unfavorable or average reviews, but I sometimes find games that I still enjoy despite unfavorable reviews, and with the release list being so slim, I thought I would possibly get it. Opinions?

Its a rental. I would feel terrible if I told anyone to buy this game..it simply isn't worth 60 dollars, not when you can get it from Redbox for 3.

It feels next gen but at 3/4 hours long it is absolutely not worth the money.

I've never rented a game, tbh. >_>

If I play something, I just buy it and add it to my collection. I'm weird like that.

Oops, sorry. That dude who posted the long review was really helpful, so thanks for the link.

I'm enjoying it, but it is far from being a "great" game.

Here's my bullet points:

- Its story is short and full of cliches. Kind of like the story mode in COD. Its training for the other mode.

- It is GORGEOUS! This cannot be overstated. This is the title you will use to "wow" non gamers with your shiny new XBOne until something "prettier" comes along.

- The combat is basic, but rewarding IF you are going for points. The execution timing is very well done and requires you to learn each execution's animation if you want to get the best score.

- There are no additional weapon style, and basically 3 enemy types. The levels have collectibles that are similar to the flags in the first AC (meaning you search for them and get nothing from the game as a reward).

I know this all sounds negative, but I'm enjoying it quite a lot. I would compare it to Heavenly Sword from last gen. Not because it plays similarly. Ryse is NOT a God of War clone. But, similar to Heavenly Sword, Ryse is a game that is short, beautiful, and ultimately leaves me hoping they make a sequel that fulfills the potential the idea and setting provide.

I own a XBOne, PS3, XBOX360, and Wii. I'm in it for the gameplay, not the logo on the box. Can you say the same?

FTFY. I bought my copy and Black Friday. While it's pretty to look at (wtf is up with having prerendered cutscenes. Sooo next gen.) It plays like a 10 year old game. I honestly don't think it should have been any longer. Let alone could have been. It's essentially just and Xbone tech demo.

It is absolutely amazing. Haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time.

3-4 hour campaign...no, you're an idiot.

It's a good game....but I'd just wait for a price cut.

It is indeed one hell of a looker, though. It shoots down all of the claims that the XB1 isn't capable of truly amazing graphics (though Forza 5 does that, too).
