The new SKU for Xbox One for next year, here is what I'm hoping for.

I'm hoping for a Kinectless system and the removal of the HDMI in. I don't need the TV function as my TV already offers motion control along with voice commands, so that's not needed for me and without those two things on it, I could see the price being only $300.

Rumors before suggested that the Xbox 720 (Before the name change) would come in two versions, I'm hoping they release just a straight gaming console without those additional features I do not need nor want. Anyone else hope they release something similar?

Edit: For those unaware of the rumored SKU

I am aware this is old but I'm just daydreaming of what I would like to see from a new Xbox One SKU

I would welcome a kinectless version. I doubt it would drop the console down to $300 though.

If they remove the HDMI In, that also saves some coin and they could use a cheaper SoC because a lot of it would not be needed without a Kinect.

Edit: $300 may be dreaming, but I find $350 certainly more reasonable since it's a tad weaker than the PS4 and it would put them into the market much faster than trying to push a $500 gaming console with TV features.

Microsoft will not sell the Xbox One without Kinect, at least not this early. Maybe in 2 or 3 years if your lucky.

Honestly I hope the never do. It basically screws over everyone who actually wants it to succeed by splitting support for it.

I highly doubt kinect will ever be removed. MS spent countless dollars in R and D and acquiring the tech for kinect, and they are damn sure going to force us to have one so they can keep the price higher to recoup the losses.

You may have missed it last week, but teardowns showed that the Xbone hardware is more expensive to make than the PS4 even without the Kinect. MS would be taking huge losses if they try to undercut the PS4.

You do realize that if, & that's a big IF, MS release a new version of the One next year, it'll just be a digital version. No disc drive, solely digital only.

People are dreaming if they think MS will drop Kinect anytime soon. This WILL NOT happen, not for a few years at least.

I, for one, am glad they've bundled it with the console (I wasn't at first), I wouldn't have touched it with a barge pole after the garbarge that was the 360 Kinect but it's a fantastic piece of kit, leaps & bounds ahead of the 360 version & I'm very excited to see how this is used in a years time. I'm sure the new Halo will use it in some clever way, I'm also looking forward to seeing what Fable does with it...

Yeah, a lot of the costs are in fact due to the Kinect and the HDMI in.

Remove the Kinect, that's $75, remove the HDMI Input feature, that's another $25

Microsoft cannot sell the system without those for $400, it's a weaker gaming system than the PS4 which cost $400, they would have to sell for less than $400

and split the support for Kinect? Only support for the Kinect will be done by first party or people MS pays, no decent 3rd party is going to make a Kinect game, as they all sold poorly in the past.
