Xbox One Manual Update

#1urmiePosted 12/10/2013 10:49:19 PM(edited)
Saw this in the comments of major nelson's blog, confirmed it worked for me:

Step 1: GoTo power options in settings menu. Turn off auto update; Then turn on auto update; Then select "Turn Off Xbox" within the same menu. (Settings > Power & Start-up > Turn off console.)
Step 2: Once the console is off it is in sleep mode but still on terms of power. This means that you are not to touch your Xbox One for 30 mins or so. (Brick should be white)
Step 3: Check back after those 30 mins and if your console's brick is orange instead of white when your shut off your Xbox One, this means that the update was downloaded and you have to manually turn on your Xbox One through the logo on the box.
Step 4: You will see the green Xbox One logo and then a black screen with the update in progress. EDIT: The file update is 1.24GB

This update addresses the following:

Addresses SmartGlass issues for some users when coming in and out of connected standby
Addresses multiplayer issues for some users when re-joining games
Addresses issues with inconsistent notifications for some users
Addresses dashboard performance for some users
Offers improvements for Xbox One’s TV, system update, and content update services for scaling over time
Updated wireless networking driver to improve connectivity issues for some use

This way is how you can manually trigger the update. It'll eventually auto update on its own without you doing anything.
