Elder Scrolls Online Pricing model disappoints me:(

I was so interested in this game until I fount out that to play the game a year I think I would have to pay $60 for the game and $280 to play just for a year. Seriously for that I think I could get a Wii U to compliment my X1 or just pick up DA:I and The Witcher 3.

Such a shame.

don't worry, the game will go free to play in time after the 15/month sub model causes it to flop

to be fair the monthy sub is designed to continuously add content to the game. so think of it as buying expansion packs. it does suck that they are forcing you to in essence buy expansion packs but its not as if your money was for nothing.

It's not like monthly fees for MMOs have been around since 1999 or anything.

Don't you also have to pay for the expansion packs too?

No its 60$ for the game 1 month free then 15$/month makes 60 + 11x15 = 285$ to play the game a year I never even managed to play WoW for more than 3 months so I guess it'd only be 90$ for me which is still more than I am willing to pay

Okay, where are people getting the $280 number from? Assuming they price themselves at "standard" MMO pricing, that's at most $15 a month, if you pay month-to-month (and they have discounts for the more months up-front you subscribe.) At $15 a month, you're looking at $180 for a year. They usually give you a free month when you buy the game, so knock $15 off that. Deals usually go something like $40 for 3-month subs, and maybe $70 for a 6-month sub or so.

Now, like I said, this is all assuming they go by regular pricing models, and don't go "It's an Elder Scrolls game! People will pay more!" because that **** didn't even help Old Republic out at its standard pricing structure.
