Next gen my ass!

While you girls are arguing over stuff, I'm busy killing zombies in dead rising 3!

No really... The amount of zombies on screen at once is reason enough to know its next gen. The game is pretty awesome too

Comparing racing launch games I see a nice jump...

Well of course you do, it would be rather surprising if you didn't. But I don't think that's what TC is saying. The comparison should be the end of gen 6 to the beginning of gen 7 and the end of gen 7 to the beginning of gen 8 to see how noticeable the 'jump' was last time in comparison.

I only have 2 games so far but have been impressed with them, AC4 on PS4 and Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One. Also this time we are going from HD to HD, last time we went from SD to HD.

AC4 does look really great in 1080p though, just downright gorgeous at times and i have seen it played on 360 where it looks good but not as impressive. The game also runs like a dream with incredible draw distance and no slowdown. Smoker and weather effects look amazing too.

Dead Rising 3 looks good, maybe a high quality 360 game as best but its not really about the graphics for this game, its about amount of zombies on screen. Later in the game there are so many that entire blocks are filled up and you can still see all the zombies in multiple blocks in the distance meaning they too are all being rendered in the city. No way 360 could have handled what they did on XB1 without some drawbacks. Plus with the patch, the framerate runs perfectly.

I didn't think you'd actually do it but it actually serves to prove a pretty good point. The leap in definition played a big part from 6 to 7, but if you still had an sdtv I bet it wasn't mind blowing. I remember a friend of mine upgraded to HD mid gen and thought that alone made the difference from decent to huge. This time it was never going to be a huge difference, but if we were going to 4k TVs you'd notice those extra little things a lot more. The launch to launch, while good, just shows what was learnt through the gen, it is probably a decent sign at how much more we can expect to come out of these new systems. Both are good to have a few posts apart though, so thanks.

Sometimes I forget I'm gaming next gen and that I'm still on the 360. Seriously hard to notice much of an upgrade over last gen.

Get a HD tv. I tell the difference in all 4 games I have played.

The X360 had a huge upgrade over the original xbox and was very apparent. Not so with this generational leap. They look like 360/PS3 games.

I just played Peter Jackson's King Kong on Xbox 360 and I don't recall it looking much better than the PS2 version that I've played.

We haven't really had any useful innovations in gaming since the Nintendo DS hit the scene.

Well, you're definitely wrong. The graphical upgrade in King Kong was substantial, probably one of the better examples of a generational upgrade in a port.
