Game installs ?

Ok, I have a XboxOne and love it, but still do all my gaming on the 360. I will eventually play on the One, but I'm cheap and nothing grabs my attn just yet.

That said, do you HAVE TO install every game to play? Do both systems require that? If so, why?

When I am done with a game, do I just delete it? I always sell back/trade in my games.

I will probably keep my 360 for a long time. I don't like the decision of mandatory installs. I DO love the One as my media center though. Right now, that's what I use it for.

Yes they do. Game assets load much faster from the hard drive than they do from the disc.

Good points, but why make it mandatory? when I complete a game, I am done with it. Let's be real, some games you certainly don't play more than a few levels if they aren't to your liking.

I am guessing both systems decided to go this route correct? To be more like a PC?

just delete the install files. game saves are separate.

I will, but I don't have a great internet connection. I'll deal with it. I guess I was just venting.

I think the reasoning that installs are mandatory is for two basic reasons. First is that the hard drive is faster, second is that Game developers can make games knowing it will be this way and they can take advantage of that fact.

Devs having to account for users who did not install their games in the last gen meant developing for the lowest common denominator ( consoles running software off the game disc). I welcome this change, I always installed my games last gen anyways.
