Microsoft stiffed me on free Xbox One Game for defective disc drive

#1kududoodooPosted 12/26/2013 6:19:58 PM(edited)
They said since I pressed the button entitled "disc unreadable," and not "hardware malfunction" that it doesn't count and I don't qualify.

First tech person said it was all good and said to wait for the replacement. The second guy I just talked to said there's two disc drive problems and that mine doesn't qualify.

Of course I was pissed so I demanded to talk to a higher up. Instead they said they had to "escalate" the situation and wait two days for an email. It's been a week and no email. I got stiffed.

Screw Microsoft. Lying rats.

EDIT: If anyone is in the same boat or actually got their free copy please respond and let me know.

Escalate it again. Email them or call. I'd also go about voicing your dissatisfaction to Microsoft via Twitter or some other public forum.

Also, do remember that it is the week of Christmas. A lot of offices close. I would wait until the first week of January.

So one system breaking malfunction qualities you for a free game but a slightly different one doesn't? How very arbitrary

Disc unreadable means the disc itself is the problem, not the disc drive.

Not sure what reporting the problem to MS would do to fix your disc then.
They'd just tell you to return the game to whomever you bought it from.

Precisely why TCs claim makes no damn sense. If the disc drive was failing to read any and all games, that is a hardware malfunction.
