This is why the xbox one has a resolution drop compared to the ps4.

They are going let developers use the extra power in the future.

No a surprise to me. I think the Kinect has put somewhat of a negative effect on the system so far. That may change in the future but we will see.

"Around 10% of the Xbox One’s GPU time is dedicated to functions on the operating system level, particularly Kinect tracking."

They're tracking you to make money off you with KINECT 2.0 They've already said kinect is not going anywhere many times, its their whole business model to track your reactions and sell them to advertisers. People buying the One realize theyre making that trade off and accept it or choose the PS4 and Wii-U where the games run in 1080p and no tracking. It's cut and dry.

Stop trying to make Microsoft change their stance and accept the console for what it is. They never said they were going to change their policy on kinect anywhere in the article.

The article is all wrong. I am tired of all these discussions of resolution and framerate by clear ignorants on the matter.

Kinect is not such a resource hog that it forces the console to drop resolution to match the PS4 performance.

Just stop all this nonsense and get this over your heads already:

1) Xbox One has more than enough hardware to run games at 1080 res and 60fps together. Yes it can. It has already.

2) Xbox One has considerable (No, not just slightly) less resources to handle the same content that ps4 can at the same resolution. Resolution is a resource hog because it gets exponential. A simple drop in resolution lessens the impact and that's why you currently see basically identical games with just different resolutions at the same performance. This is strictly referring to full wide memory bandwidth. Hell, current high end computer GPUs with several times the bandwidth of an xbox one, struggle with content at 4k resolution. Not even considering all other factors in.

3) Enjoy the games as they are. Even if PS4 manages higher res, that is most likely what it will achieve in multiplats. I doubt developers will put any extra effort just because the ps4 has more resources to work with. Surely exclusives will show the difference but even then, I doubt you will care.

Now stop adding memory bandwidths, stop sapping power from every nook and cranny of the xbox. Stop asking "Can Xbox One do 1080p".

I totally agree. There is no way to spin this. The ps4 has the better hardware. Games should run better and at higher resolutions. The sooner people make peace with that, the sooner they will start enjoying their Xbox One.

Seriously. I understand that people will defend the choices they've made because they don't want to feel like they made the wrong one, but at a certain point it must get tiring. Honestly, who cares what the other consoles do? If you're happy with your purchase, then you shouldn't worry about it
