I'm guessing yes:

-2014 is Halo 2's 10 year anniversary

-this is still early in the console cycle and while Halo 2 HD might not have sold very well if released on the 360 (Halo CE HD didn't put up great numbers), people will buy games like this early in the cycle

-pure conjecture but Halo 5 probably won't come out until 2015 at the latest and I'm guessing that Microsoft would like a Halo game with multiplayer in 2014 to tide people over

It's not happening for a while.

Probably.

HD ports don't take a load of effort. They can be done in minimal time with a small team. Unless you're Square Enix. Then you take forever to release it.

I like to think developers look at the Silent Hill HD Collection and go "wow, that's exactly how we shouldn't do a HD port!"

If they came out with a HD collection for the Halo series, I'd really consider getting a Xbox One.

Halo 2's campaign was the most memorable for me. I still remember the day that I went to get it at the midnight release. When I got home and played it, I was blown away by this masterpiece.

Would I like a remake? Sure, if they do it like the Halo Anniversary Edition remake where it's a true remake, except that in Halo 2's case it'll use the full power of the Xbox One. Hopefully they will avoid this coming to Xbox 360 altogether so they can fully concentrate all of their energy on 1 system. Last gen ports need to die as soon as possible.

the gameplay scenarios were bad, the writing was bad, the pacing was bad, the music was bad, etc. easily the worst campaign in the series. tried playing it again as a playthrough of the whole series, halo 2 is the only one i couldnt stomach to finish.

Everything you said is the exact opposite of how I see the game. Right off the bat when you start the game the presentation was stellar. The gameplay scenarios were some of the best in the series. The music was great. The pacing and gameplay scenarions were great mainly due to the fact that you play as the alien and Master Chief.

The problem is that some people have jumped on the hate bandwagon for this game precisely because of the fact that you play as the alien (I forget the name.. the reclaimer or something like that?). Hating on the game because you play as the alien is a childish point of view.

Ran out of space, so i'm continuing here. So you're going to tell me that the gameplay scenarios in this game were bad? In the beginning, there is a section where you fight in the vacuum of space. They gave that section littles details like no sounds, which added to the atmosphere. It might not be something so great right now, but back in the day that little section was awesome from my point of view.

The scarab section was another mind blowing part of the game. Again, it's 2014, so something like that isn't so great in this day and age, but back then it was awesome.
