Those of you that can't tell a difference between 1080p and 720p

How many of you have a 1080p TV? It seems strange that someone would own a TV capable of 1080p but not care if the resolution being displayed is 720p or 1080p.

I'd actually be interested to know if there was a portion of people that don't understand how resolution, graphical fidelity and graphical quality differ at all.

There'll always be tiny, minute differences in every console generation that people fixate on - whether it's tape load speeds, bits, disk capacity, GPU, and so on.

720p and 1080p ARE different, and the increased resolution DOES make a difference, but unless you are LITERALLY looking at a 50" television set (and above) from a distance of less than 4-5 feet, you will only notice the increased resolution if you are actively scrutinising it.

I have three TVs a led a LCD and plasma they all do 1080p and most of my ps3 games do 720p or are upscaled to 1080p the 720p games look good. Now on my Xbox one ryse at 900p looks good and games like forza at 1080p look good. Ki is 720p looks great really can't tell that much a difference maybe because it's a fighting game.

This I've been called blind lol I have great vision but honestly you have to be sitting close or looking for the difference I have a 50inch a 46 and 48 and it's not a huge difference maybe noticeable but it's not a huge drop in quality.

I have a 1080p TV, but it's only a 32 or 34 inch screen and it's roughly five-six feet away from my couch. I cannot tell the difference between 1080p and 720p on it from that distance. I would have to have a larger screen or get closer to the one I have in order to notice the difference. This article briefly gets into why that is and has a handy related chart or two:

There are other articles that delve more deeply into the limits of human vision with all sorts of math and science should one wish to look, but I like that one for the charts.

Cheating has gone hand-in-hand with gaming for centuries. Video games in particular often have cheats built right into the game.

I own a 55" and everyone keeps saying you can't see the difference on a smaller set. Maybe you really can't, I don't know. I do know I can see a noticable enough difference that I prefer 1080p over 720p given the option.
