Xbox One best selling console in December in the US

You are correct good sir and I commend you! Fanboys from both sides always turn new console releases into a circus. I don't get why people compare sales numbers when all three are selling quite well. If you have the console you want, then go enjoy it and be happy. I envy you for having the perfect gaming trifecta. I tried that once with the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox and I was overwhelmed. I just don't have the time and money to buy hardware and games for 2 or 3 consoles. I can hardly keep up with one.

I don't know what it is anymore and honestly I don't care. But fans put more emphasis into the "console wars" than I think the companies do. Part of me wants to believe that the companies are kind of like Mount Olympus and every now and again while they dine on wine, grapes, cheese, and hour glass figured women, they look over the edge of the cloud at their monkeys (fanboys) and laugh till they rupture something and then rebirth. And when one of us pleas to their council, we then see them bless us with a smile and a nod and something platonic like " It pleases us to see the enthusiasm of our consumer base. " And once we take that little nugget back into the hills and light another stick and fling poop in their name, they go right back to laughing and counting all that money.

I've always owned every three consoles in rotation for each generation and maybe 1 or 2 handhelds. I like variety, I can't just be tied to one console. There is too much out there I want to play and experience. From Ps1/N64/Dreamcast to Ps2/Gamecube/Xbox to SegaGenesis/SNES I always stayed up to date. This gen being no different. It can be overwhelming if you do it alone. But with friends, you kind of forget the meaning of backlog because you're playing so much stuff together that when you do have that time alone to play single player titles, it makes a 3 month break feel like 30 minutes. But that's just me.

I'm actually playing 3 game systems right now because there are still games on the 360 that I'm playing as well as on the Xbox One. Then I bought a 3DS 2 weeks ago. I plan on getting the PS4 eventually, but that's it. I'm also working, have a kid, and going to school, so time is limited right now. Believe me, if I could, I would have it all!

Owning the unholy trinity (WiiU/Ps4/X1 because you know, fans don't think it's possible to have all three or something) I just came into this topic shaking my head and wanted to drop a few things I remember and a question; flexible or not.

When this all started and Microsoft dropped the proverbial soap, everybody in Sony camp was pretty much like " BOOM HEADSHOT ". Now we turn around and X1 is selling units and keeping up a good pace in a long and soon to be 10 year race. (10 years being the expectancy of each console).

So moving from that we get to issue A: Sales don't matter.

The second Sony fans were throwing their hands up at 1 MIL in NA alone, a feat that you can't arguably deny is beyond impressive considering MS is Western based and this is their turf, Microsoft fans went " We'll see what Xbox does, cross our fingers. " But when Xbox 1 sold 1MIL in 13 locations around the globe. People were like " SUCK IT SUCK IT YES XBOX STILL IN THIS! " Now I'll admit. 1MIL considering what people claimed (a total blow out) is impressive. But comparing 1MIL in your OWN backyard to 1MIL everywhere else is like comparing 45 homeruns in one baseball game. To 45 homeruns over the span of a career. Yeah it's 45 homeruns either way. But it's more impressive to see it in one sitting than over a life time. At that point you're just being a " Mr. Me Too " to throw your achievement there.

Which brings me to issue B: The flip flop.

Both sides do it and both are really out of place for it. But somebody else said it best.

When sales don't matter it's when PS4 has any solid ground, lead, positive momentum, etc. Or Xbox has some announcement of success and catching up to the trail left by Ps4. But if somebody finds one nugget to cling on ( NPD numbers being higher. OOS. 1MIL. Voted best console on X, Y, Z sites. whatever ) it always ends up being " We win because bigger this bigger that. "

Which goes to my last issue C: Denial

The bottom line is as a gamer everyone here should WANT to see both consoles thrive. Even if you have some brand loyalty you shouldn't be so naive to pretend that the success of one console and the potential failure of another is a good thing. Pretending that facts stop being facts for today until your console choice gets good news is just ridiculous.

So what in the #*$* is all the back and forth about? Really, honestly tell me somebody. Because the way I see it, every argument or defense from either side, about any aspect is utterly ridiculous and trivial.

And to the people going " Outselling is Outselling " for this particular instance because you want a bone in the dish for your camp? You look foolish. If Outselling is Outselling then the fact that the PS4 right now is outselling the X1 globally should leave reason for no challenge or debate. Yet again, we come to issue A and B the flip flop. Where now, it's not a matter of PS4 outselling anymore, but a matter of accepting that X1 did it in a specific month. It's ridiculous. Everybody in here, Ps4 and Xbox sides will try to throw logic and facts under a bus to be right. All to gain nothing from either company for it other than games for profit.

Disgusting.

And the winner is.... this guy ^

My only response is that it's too bad the fanboys on BOTH sides will dismiss your post or ignore it completely.

Amazing that all this bickering is still about chest thumping for their respective consoles instead of celebrating that this is a great indication that the console market is healthy and thriving with such record numbers.

We are in for a great generation of gaming no matter what console you purchase. I love it! The comparison of sales doesn't mean anything, but the sales of these consoles in general is amazing! Sony and Microsoft are raking it in and proving that console gaming is stronger than it's ever been. Thank you Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo for giving us a lot to be excited about!

Doesn't this prove they are not in fact collecting dust, but that they are selling well and stores are getting a constant steady supply? NPD doesn't track shipped, they track sold.
