Why are people getting upset over another marketing strategy for the Xbox One?

#1Jedi454Posted 1/21/2014 5:22:17 AM
Some many people tearing up over Youtubers having contracts with Microsoft so they can promote their product. Yes, this is selling out, but the simple thing to do if you don't agree or like the content the Youtuber has to offer, is to not complain and just stop watching him or her.

I repeat JUST STOP WATCHING THEM.

I always wondered if CoD was promoted by youtubers. Even Adam Sessler's Rev Games gave Ghosts an 8.5.

The lady who made the review said the maps are too small. This leads me to believe she is unqualified to be a reviewer, is new to the series despite her claiming she isn't, and she has no idea what she is talking about.

The most common reasons people think Ghosts is terrible is:

-The Maps are too large
-Despite the large maps, the spawns are so inconsistent that you will get shot in the back after spawning, and so will people you kill.
-In every area, there are around 4 or 5 ways to enter. This is terrible for objective type games where you have to defend something.

Last time we had shills here on gamefaqs. We don't want them back. Microsoft can keep them.

Who's upset? It's just another turd on top of the huge mountain of crap. No one should be surprised at this point.

It's sleazy and underhanded. Funny that it's backfired so spectacularly though - if you actually search xb1m13 most of the videos are scathing criticism of the campaign. who is steering the ship at the xbone division of MS? The console seems to be lurching from one PR disaster to the next

Even Nintendo with it's wii u crisis is NOT resorting to these cheap tactics, unless MS is really in trouble and those big dec sales numbers were a big fat lie.

My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought, careening through a cosmic vapor of invention.

In the USA, FTC guidelines demand full disclosure when there is "a connection between the endorser and the seller of the advertised product that might materially affect the weight or credibility of the endorsement."

the terms for the payment of the youtubers state that they must not disclose that they are getting paid for it

There is also similar laws in the UK, and probably in other countries too

I'd like to know the same thing.

Also, how is the tactics Microsoft are using is cheap? Companies get sports commentators to advertise their products all the time, how is this any different to that? People who make a living on Youtube might take the contract because they actually like the system. Oh but wait, this is a Sony troll board, not an Xbox One discussion board.
