My god, after reading some of the threads on this board, it has become clear how ignorant X1 fanboys are to logic. It is actually frustrating.

I'm more surprised at how they've started straight up lying, like that guy in this thread who keeps making posts about how games are selling better on XB1.lol
I hope he's lying and not delusional cause that'd be worse.

Isn't it like 40-50% more powerful than xbox one? Whoever thinks its 100% is clearly wrong, the last time a console had advantage like that was the original Xbox over the ps2. The multiplats back then were obviously a no-buy on the ps2 if you also had the xbox.

While the ps4 is more powerful and gaming oriented, they need to bring some decent games out for it asap, its like the early ps3 days, but without the ridiculous price.

I'm not going to get into numbers here but a game running at 60FPS has to render twice as much as a game running at 30FPS... Assuming they have the same resolution and texture quality etc... If it didn't require more power for more frames don't you think all the games would run at 60FPS?

PS4 or Xbox... Why not Zoidberg?

It's 40% in terms of GPU for the most part, it's amazing people don't remember. I'll show everyone!

X1 GPU:
768:48:16 @853MHz

PS4 GPU:
1152:72:32 @800MHz

768*2*.853= ~1.31Tflops
1152*2*.8= ~1.84Tflops

1.84/1.31 = ~1.4

Ratio of TMUs is similar so it'll be ~40% again (TMUs * clock speed = GT/s). Just as an aside, to work out how many TMUs AMD GPUs have it's Shaders/16 = TMUs. That's how it is with AMD GPUs. For example 7970 has 2048:128:32. 7850 has 1024:64:32 etc etc.

ROPs = ~1.88x difference ((32*.8)/(16*.853)).

I think your right... However I assume the 10% of resources reserved for Kinnect may contribute to that conclusion... Frankly it's just more fan boy fodder.

Ya that is how multiplats work...

I left out "instead" after X1. You probably knew that though.

PS4 gamers dont game. End of story.

I take it you're not having much fun with your Bone since you're spending most of your time here. Perhaps it would be best to just resell it and get a better one?

I have to ask this now. People on gaf claim that ps4 has 50 to 100 % more power because TR runs on 60fps and 30fps on xbo. Im no gearhead But wouldnt this Statement only be True if the game also had 50% more polygons, shaders, lighting effects and all that other tech stuff? If the whole game looks the same on both systems and only fps is the difference then why Do they all claim that the ps4 is 50% stronger. I dont get this. Sorry for bad english and German cellphone autocorrection.

Depends on how you look at it, hardware wise the ps4 has a ~40% more powerful gpu.

In the case of this game though
If TR will indeed run at a consistent 60fps on the ps4 and the two versions is otherwise identical that means the ps4 will render the same amount of stuff as the Xbone at twice the frame rate which is 100% more frames per second.

100% of 30 is 30, 100% more of 30 is 60.

Changing the wording a bit we could make this even more dramatic

30 Frames per second then 100% as many as 30 is 30, 200% as many as 30 is 60. Thus 200%.

So why is it then that a 40% more powerful gpu could produce 100% more frames or 200% as many (depending on how you state it) ?

My guess it's due to V-Sync. Maybe the Xbone version really could render 45ish fps most of the time but V-sync will limit it to 30 either way so.

The power requirements to produce X amount of frames isn't linear, nor is it as simple as saying one piece of hardware has X amount more power. They're different pieces of hardware and they work in different ways.

But yes, you're right about the v-sync. A static framerate is much better than a fluctuating framerate when you get below 60FPS.
