WHAT A GYP - Your personal "Totally unfair" gaming moments

#1SigmaLongshotPosted 1/27/2014 10:02:59 AM
Sometimes, we play games and we dominate, steamrolling through our opposition with aplomb, stopping briefly only to gloat and thrust our manhood into the opposition's direction.

But on the other hand, you can't win it all, and you get a thrashing. And that stings. But you know what stings more? When you feel like you didn't DESERVE to lose. When you feel like the game has a personal vendetta and altered it's own C++ DNA so there's no way you can outwit it. That you are destined to lose because the AI is just outright CHEATING.

So, what are YOUR "WHAT A GYP!" moments? Is there a particular game or moment in said game where you get cheated out of a win, resulting in your undeserved loss?

I also recall, I believe it was Ninja Gaiden 2 - when I'd cleared out a room, had a sliver of health left, stopped to catch my breath, and a rocket flew in from some random off-screen point and ended me.

FROM WHERE?! FROM HOW? AAAAARRRGH

Gears of war 2. Me and my friend were playing some Execution and managed to be the final deaths of the round by a mortar from above while we were inside of a building.

"The Princess is in another castle". Seven times! SEVEN TIMES!!!! Who sent Columbo there on his quest with such terrible leads?

Ironically, nearly any game I can think of that had gyp moments are either Nintendo produced games with rubber band AI or games on the NES like Battletoads, Ninja Gaiden, or TMNT.

Of course, there are always the absolutely final bosses that take 10% damage but can kill you in 3 hits. I hate those...

ALL games should have a Single Player mode. I can always guarantee I want to play when I turn on my system. I can't guarantee others will at the same time.

Or the boss who retreats, sends in 100 henchmen whilst he heals, then jumps back in to fight you. You have 6 HP left, of course.
