PS4 selling 50% more than Xbox1 in Britain

If this is the case then things are looking pretty dicey for XB1 in Europe. If things stay like that then it is a shocking turn around for the XBox brand here. The UK was the only country in Europe where the 360 was more popular than the PS3 and was an important market for MS.

Living here in the UK, I have to say the XB1 has had a rough time. Even non- gaming mainstream press were laying into it after E3 last year. And specialist press like Edge and Eurogamer were startlingly strident in their stance against XB1. And then there is the whole NSA thing which means people here are not feeling enamoured of all things USA (even though our own spy agencies were bending over backwards to kiss Uncle Sam's arse on this one).

Then there is the fact that MS completely screwed the TV intergration here by somehow forgetting that Europe operates on a 50hz standard, reinforcing the widespread perception that XB1 is a thing for Americans who watch NFL on tv. Plus the fact that so many people here watch their HD tv through their TV's inbuilt freeview decoders, which can't be plugged into the HDMI-in on the XB1. It all feels like a perfect storm of utter meh towards the Xbox and a feeling that MS don't know or care about anything outside USA.

When you think about the PS4 stock shortages here (has been more or less impossible to pick up a PS4 since launch) then things look even worse for XB. MS will have to somehow play an utter blinder to turn this around.

More or less impossible to pick them up? What?

Was you hoping that no one here was from the UK? GAME have had a both consoles in stock except for the first week of launch.

Someone else from UK on gamefaqs? Wow, small world my dear chap!

I wasn't aware of Game having them. Where I live Game has 'disappeared ' as a high street presence. and they certainly weren't available in the local HMV
Amazon had no PS4's for all of January, promising a stock fill for the 25th of the month. But that went straightaway and now it is 4th of Feb (unless you want the more expensive Knack bundle lol, which they apparently have just one of in stock) whist there are no issues getting XB1.

Anyway, do disagree with the gist of what I'm saying? I mean, UK was heavily an xbox territory, but that seems over now. Were you quite surprised by the outright editorial stance of Edge and Eurogamer not to mention even rags like the Metro having a pop?

Once Sony ships more consoles there the gap will widen. Driveclub will push PS4 even further. UK loves racing games.
Also all multiplatform games are selling better on PS4 and this will continue in the future.

I just can't see how Titanfall will help there when it's available for the much cheaper X360. Who on earth is going to spend 423 pounds for a system plus Gold sub(the game is online only title) in order to play it when they can buy for X360?

But if they have a 360 then almost certainly they already have Gold no? I'm pretty sure XB1 will get a significant boost from TitanFall here. If 360 was so popular in UK, than that indicates there is an appetite here for the competitive shooters that so exemplify the Xbox brand. But I don't think it will be anywhere near enough to close the gap. Also, things like FFXIV will give a significant boost to PS4. I think the thing that Sony are doing wrong in Europe is in delaying the PS Now service. Especially in the UK, with lots of people making or thinking about making the switch to Playstation from Xbox, the chance to try out PS3 games they never got to play before would be a huge incentive.
MS seem to be doing a whole lot more wrong, right from the get-go. Even utter non- gamers I know here have commented upon what an utter balls up the XB1 seems to be

PlayStation now will not function properly w/o server farms in Europe and gaikai just doesn't have any right now. It's not a coincidence Now nay launches in the US for now.

Having a X360 does not equals being a gold member. Still the option to purchase the X360 version is the best one because you will play vs more people online. So...why spend a s##^ load of bucks to play it with much lower count of people?
Also some might want also a single player experience. You know, slow progression, etc.

That makes sense. Would be a significant investment

Not surprising because the PS4 launched a week earlier than the Xbone there. Oh wait...no it didn't, it was the other way around, lets see the excuses roll in.
