Report: Sonic Going Multiplatform In New Game Slated For 2015

Sonic has had a rough few years. His latest action outing, Lost World, didnít do so well last year on Wii U or 3DS. Sonic Generations didnít fare much better in 2011. But itís not all bad news.

Sonic Colors was a competent platformer, and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed gives Mario a run for his money. It looks like the blue blur is getting another chance at multiplatform success next year.

Fan site Spindash captured the image above of a poster touting a 2015 Sonic title on Wii U, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Of course, we have no idea yet what type of game this might be.

Will it try to redeem the seriesí often unsuccessful 3D platforming? Will it be another kart racer? Perhaps with the success of 2D platformers like Rayman Legends, weíll see a return to classic Sonic horizontal speed.

I hope its Sonic Adventure 3 or another generations. Those games were good

Sonic Generations sold 1.8 million units and was the most pre-ordered Sonic game in the series' history. It also has a metacritic score of 77 with almost all reviews being positive or just average. I'd hardly call it a failure.

Probably going by Gameinformer review scores

While Rayman Legends was amazing, the game flopped hard. I fail to see why Sega would be inspired by it.

Definitely not a "failure" per se, but I'm willing to bet it was one of the only Sonic games available for preorder. You also have to take into consideration Generations was basically a 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Game.

I'm curious to see what they come up with though. (if it's true)
