For the most part, though Bill Gates will still be working closely with the new CEO as CNN reports.

Cue the Xbox is done trolls.

Only idiots would say that the Xbox is done, even if the guy who expressly said he wanted to axe Xbox became CEO. Worst case scenario is it's sold off, either way though Xbox as a brand wouldn't and isn't at risk.

That was always just a rumor.

Yeah, as Bill should.

Just found this article stating Nadella wants to keep MS together:

5. He wants to keep Microsoft together

A lot of Wall Street investor types have been pushing for Microsoft to do away with its Bing and Xbox platforms so the brand can focus completely on its business-centric services.

Steve Ballmer, who oversaw the 'One Microsoft' reorganisation of the company, hoped for a Microsoft which saw all its products, both consumer and enterprise, working together for better.

Speaking to technology website ZDNet at the end of last year, Nadella confirmed he supported Ballmer's vision for the brand.

One of them said "Stephen Elop will still rejoin Microsoft shortly to lead an expanded devices team focused on Surface, Windows Phones, and Xbox"

Makes sense. He's good at working with devices - say what you will about Windows Phone, but you can't deny that the Lumia (and, for that matter, the Asha) lines are extremely nice devices. He's just terrible at running a company.

Here's hoping he doesn't have too much power.

Here is the thing though, he had nothing to do with the devices either.

The Lumia devices were built on the design of the N9 and the Pureview tech came from the Symbian s60 Nokia 808 phone. He was also ready to dump the s40 phones until Chinamobile threatened to stop their support of Nokia. They sent out a team for emergency talks, slapped the existing Harmattan UI on to the s40 and released the Asha line to the Chinese. Eflop has been stuck with this ever since as it still sells more devices than Windows.

He was just the guy who sunk Nokia and forced them to slap windows on the N9.
