Best 7.1 headset for use on Xbox One and PS4?

#1DeathStinger356Posted 2/17/2014 11:18:54 AM
Hey just checking to see if there are any 7.1 surround sound headsets out there that will work on both the PS4 and the Xbox One? I need a good pair and don't want to have to buy different headsets for each system

A headset that works on both would be nice.

It would. If I own a PS4 and Xbox One I'm forced to buy two headsets. BS corporate greed.

I would go with either the Astro A40 or A50 model depending on if you want wired or wireless.

So there's no other option other than spending on $250-$300 on Astros?...I mean they're nice but damn they're expensive...

Go with Senheisser. You can't go wrong.

does it need to be USB?

The best headphones by far are the Audio Technica ATH-M50's, especially for the money. Nothing else really comes close to the sound and build quality.

Great cans BUT amazon are selling Beyerdynamic dt990 pro 250 ohm for the same price as the m50s. Even better cans. Now all tc needs is the recon 3d and you just blew astro to shreds

Your best bet is to get a good pair of audiophile stereo cans and pair them with a separate mic. Also, as suggested, Sennheiser headsets are top-notch.

From what I understand, the upcoming headset adapter will allow you to mix game audio and chat levels. Hopefully, MS will enable streaming downmixed 5.1-to-stereo audio to the controller. No need for a MixAmp.
