Question about the controller and connection to PC.

So I know with the 360 it came with a USB but for some reason, you couldn't connect it to a PC that way. You needed an adapter. Is the new controller the same design? I understand PC drivers don't exist yet but I'm asking for when they do.

The adapter was needed for 360 because even when it was plugged in with the play-and-charge kit it functioned as a wireless controller. On Xbox One when you plug the controller in via USB it turns off the wireless and functions as a wired controller, so once they do the drivers it should work without any adapter.

Is it bluetooth like PS3? How is the wireless detected?

It's not bluetooth. Pretty sure it was proprietary on 360, hence the need for an adapter. I thought I heard it was wifi direct on X1, but that may have been just for smartglass.

Anyone know for sure? Because I was either just gonna wait for the drivers to be released or just get the 360 adapter.
