Will running Netflix 4-8 hours a day burn up my console?

My wife likes to watch hulu and Netflix on it so I was wondering what would happen to it.

I also posted this on the ps4 board because she also does this on that system.

I highly doubt it

Why would that burn up your console? Even when running netflix or gaming heavy i don't think i have ever noticed the fans run. The console runs very cool. I have left my laptop on without sleep mode for the majority of the last year and it still runs great, don't see why it would hurt the console.

Ya and with Microsoft wanting us to leave it on standby I don't know why it would hurt. I mean I guess that's what fans are for huh?

Not really, it'll decrease the life of it but not enough to worry about. Bluray playback is around 37c on the SoC, idle is around 32c, so around 35c for playback of that nature if I had to guess, so not enough heat to even matter.

Why not buy a chromecast? $35, you can select a movie on your phone, computer and play it through it.
