1080p and 60 FPS are NOT standard, right?

I don't know much about the new consoles, spec wise and such, as I haven't had the money to get them yet. But it seems like from some articles I see on sites, that these things are NOT standard on EVERY game yet.

It seems to me that until 1080p and 60 frames per second are standard on all games, then we're not REALLY 'there' yet, right?

1080p @ 60 FPS is a privilege, not a right.

Doesn't matter, as long as they lie and say it's 1080p60, nobody will notice.

1080p and 60fps are not standard for a game to be fun.

Hold on, didn't you say you play your games at 59fps, or am I thinking of someone else?

For the smarts PC players are supposed to have, 'Master Race' and all that jazz, I am surprised one can't find it's way back to where their peers are.

Or is it a superiority thing? Someone has better specs, and you don't like it, so you go to where you can gloat at how good you have it elsewhere?

There is no standard for frame rate.

There is however a standard for resolution. It has already been determined long ago that the standard for HD is 1080p or 1920x1080. In terms of HDTVs and signal output from media devices any resolution less than 1080p is "sub-HD".

Frame rate is a much more open topic for debate. I find that the optimal frame rate depends on the type of game. Generally most games will look and run well at 30 fps. If a game can be optimized to run at 1080p with a higher frame rate then great but it is usually a balance as the resolution dictates the speed at which the frames are drawn.

Therefore 1080p and 30~ fps is ideal (as long as it doesn't drop below 30)

Did I say that, or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me??
